Are you experiencing odor issues that are constantly threatening the otherwise peaceful atmosphere of your home? Have no fear – Two Men & A Vacuum are here to share a few natural antidotes of odor with you today, while there’s still time.

Odors can arise in many areas of a house, such as the bathroom, refrigerator, microwave, carpet, and garbage disposal. At Two Men & A Vacuum, we believe in the importance of using natural methods to remove odors, which keep you safe from harsh chemicals and allow you to use various ingredients that you may already have for cleaning. With the following items, you can naturally remove unpleasant odors from your home.

1. Baking Soda

Baking soda is a great, all-purpose ingredient for natural odor removal. You can place an open box in the fridge to absorb odor, and you can also sprinkle it in your carpets, trash cans, sports bags, and even shoes to neutralize unpleasant smells.

2. Vinegar

Vinegar is another all-purpose ingredient that has multiple uses for odor removal. Microwave one part vinegar with two parts water to clean odors out of your microwave. You can also boil a quart of water mixed with half a cup of vinegar on the stove to get rid of kitchen smells such as burnt food. Soaking bread in vinegar and leaving it overnight in a trash can will also remove bad smells.

3. Lemons

To remove odors from any room, just cut a lemon in half and place the pieces anywhere. You can also use lemon juice as a natural cleaner for the bathroom and the kitchen. A tablespoon of lemon juice mixed with a cup of water is great as a spray for the base of your toilet, too.

4. Borax

Borax is a great natural cleaner that you can purchase at the store. For body odor that tends to stick to your clothes, add a cup of Borax to the wash. This will neutralize the odors and keep them from coming back.

5. Boiling Water

You can use a couple of gallons of boiling water in your bathtub or your sink to kill bacteria that often gets stuck underneath the rims. This bacteria causes odor, and boiling water will eliminate the issue.

6. Coffee Grounds

Similarly to baking soda, either leftover or fresh coffee grounds work well in your refrigerator, microwave, and cabinets to remove odors.

7. Citrus Rinds

Does your garbage disposal emit a foul odor? Place the rinds of citrus fruit, such as oranges or lemons, in the disposal to make it smell sweeter.

8. Plants

One way to prevent foul odors is by keeping household plants. They clean the air naturally and remove unpleasant odors. Herbs with strong fragrances are especially useful, such as mint, lavender, rosemary, and basil. Plants are great for adding oxygen to a room, too!

9. Essential Oils

There are many ways to diffuse essential oils throughout your home. You can purchase a diffuser kit, or mix them with water for a freshening spray. Make sure to check that you are buying essential oils, which are natural, rather than fragrance oils.

10. Air

Finally, when the weather is nice, just open your windows to get a breeze flowing throughout your home. This will immediately remove many lingering odors.
