Two Men & A Vacuum vs. Ketchup Stains

Two Men were called once again to come and save the day.

It was the day after Memorial Day weekend, and after having tons of fun and grilling out nonstop, the proud owner of the house and host to a party of over 40 people woke up to an awful realization. Even though his guests hadn’t been messy, he had forgotten to put out the pet barriers and his 8 month old Husky indulged in what was left from the previous night’s cook out.

That night, the adventurous puppy decided to chew on some leftover meat which was fine, but then he found the ketchup! THE KETCHUP.  And like any other puppy, he started to chew and squeeze the bottle just like he would his toys.

What the owner of the house didn’t expect was that he was about to wake up to a beige carpet painted bright ketchup red! His parents were coming the next day from out of town, and he had very little time to clean up. So, remembering that Two Men & A Vacuum had left a postcard on his doorstep, he decided to give them a call.

Two Men came to his rescue and left him some tips in case the puppy made a mess again.

To get rid of ketchup stains:

  1. Make sure to gently scrape off the excess ketchup as soon as you can. If it is dry, you can use the blunt edge of a butter knife.
  2. Check the type of carpet to make sure it won’t get damaged, and of course always test the cleaner on a small section before applying to the full stain.
  3. Create a cleaning solution by mixing 2 cups of water and 1 Tbsp. of non-bleaching dishwasher liquid.
  4. Dampen a cloth with the solution and place it on top of the stain.
  5. Use your fingers or a spoon to massage the cloth and get the solution into the carpet fibers. The ketchup will transfer over to the cloth.
  6. Finally, just rinse the area with warm water. Use a sponge to make the process easier, then blot the area with paper towels and let it dry.
